About us
Grupo VerdeAzul is a Panamanian business group with more than 35 years of experience, which owns, develops and operates real estate, agribusiness, tourism and logistics assets and invests capital in new companies.
History
Grupo VerdeAzul S.A. (“GVA”) was founded in 2006 with the objective of growing the Group’s real estate assets and hospitality.
Alberto Vallarino, Founder and President of Grupo VerdeAzul, served as the CEO of Banistmo from 1988 to 2006. Under his leadership this Panamanian bank became the largest private commercial bank in Central America and the Caribbean.
Engineer Vallarino has always been a firm believer in the power of the private sector as an agent of change in the community. While in Banistmo, he created and directed Valores del Istmo, the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility arm, and took this philosophy to Grupo VerdeAzul through Fundación Grupo VerdeAzul in 2007, with a clear mandate to apply resources to various communities and social programs in all Panama.
Some of the group’s major investments predate its foundation. Buenaventura, its real estate development flag, was acquired by the Vallarino family in 1993 when it was a cattle ranch facing the sea. The Hotel Bristol opened its doors to the public in 1997.
Since 2006 Grupo VerdeAzul has grown into a diversified investment company with more than $1 billion in asset management and employs more than 1,000 professionals from several companies operating in the real estate, hospitality and logistics.
