
Alberto Vallarino Clément
Chairman of the Board
Alberto Vallarino holds a Bachelor in Industrial Engineering (1973) and an MBA from Cornell University (1974). He has been the Chairman of Grupo Verdeazul since 2011.
Mr. Vallarino has held important positions in the banking and tourism sectors, and served as Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Panama from 2009 to 2011. During this period, Mr. Vallarino was a member of the board of directors of several companies, notably Cable & Wireless Panama S.A., Caja de Seguro Social, Banco Nacional de Panamá, Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica S. A. (ETESA), among others. In addition, he was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Panama Canal Authority for a 9-year period commencing in February 19, 2013.
Alberto Vallarino held the position of General Manager of Grupo Banistmo for 20 years, and had previously served as General Manager and Executive Vice President of Industria Nacional de Plásticos S.A. (1975-1988) and Metalforma S.A. respectively.
His strong social commitment has been demonstrated through his constant effort to promote multiple initiatives of great social and educational impact. Mr. Vallarino is the President of Fundacion Grupo Verdeazul, that supports the Foundation for Advanced Management Studies (IESA-Panama), is also founder and life member of the COSPAE Children’s Competitiveness Institute, representative of FUDESPA and the National Center of Competitiveness. In addition, Mr. Vallarino held the position of President of the Industrial Work Union of Panama (1981-1982), the Association of Latin American Industrialists (1982) and the Association of Panamanian Exporters (1983).
